Syntonic Management Approaches in Large Engineering Operations

Abstract

Views on management of large engineering operations utilizing techniques which emphasize the interpersonal needs of professionals are presented. The growth in complexity of managing larger groups of key personnel often causes managers difficulty. Examples of developing problem areas and specific recommendations based upon his experience in managing operations effectively are reviewed. Four distinct areas are presented: organizing intelligently to create order and clarity; team building modules to provide group and department strength; working relationships to bond together complex group activities; and special management approaches in enhancing the performance of technical personnel. The writers insight provides guidelines which can be very useful for managers whose organization size is expanding, and who seek enhanced productivity through higher levels of group performance.
