Abstract: The relative dissolution rates of several commercial hydrated limes were evaluated. Significant differences in dissolution rates were observed ranging from a time of <10 s for 90% dissolution to 1 min for a 5% slurry. A 2% slurry dissolved faster than a 5% slurry. The speed of lime dissolution may be important for some treatment processes.
