Abstract: This paper attempts to show that in the complex, interactive environment that managers face, the logical, rational, lineal mode of thinking needs to be complemented by arational, holistic, integrative modes. After the shortfalls of the logical, objective mode of thinking are pointed out, recent developments in the fields of physics, psychology and physiology are used to explore other complementary modes.
