Abstract: The odor associated with hydrogen sulfide is problematic for many wastewater treatment plants. In addition to causing a nuisance because of its odor, hydrogen sulfide can cause serious health effects. Many wastewater treatment plants will find it necessary to collect and treat hydrogen sulfide–contaminated air streams. The operation, advantages, and disadvantages of several systems used to treat hydrogen sulfide are discussed in this paper.
