Abstract: The results of a survey of all civil engineering departments taken to determine the 1984–85 academic year salaries are presented. About 80% of the schools responded. Average and individual salaries are grouped regionally by ASCE Districts. Separate tables show salaries for all schools plus public, private, Ph.D. and non‐pH.D. granting schools. Nine months' salaries are shown for all four academic ranks, plus the chairman's annual salary and the entry level salary for new assistant professors. A comparison is made between the average salaries reported in 1983 and in 1984. This report is a condensed version of a more comprehensive report by the writer.
