| description abstract | The long-term performance of a wharf structure restored by a geomaterial comprising low quality soil, foam, and portland cement is presented here. The use of lightweight foam and solidified fill was aimed (1) to reduce the earth pressure behind the old sea wall and (2) to mitigate the liquefaction potential behind the sea wall during an earthquake. Field and laboratory tests were conducted up to 20 months after the restoration to investigate gain in strength of the geomaterial. The results show an increase of 20–30% in strength compared with the 4-week strength. Relationships are presented to correlate field and laboratory tests on this geomaterial. | |
