Abstract: An experimental test program was performed on grouted post-tensioned anchor rods to determine if anchors with high rod-to-duct area ratios could reanchor themselves upon fracture. Liftoff testing of the grouted anchors was also performed. Results of the study revealed the specimens were capable of reanchoring themselves over a short transfer length and possessed a significant amount residual bond strength following liftoff testing. A theoretical model was created to predict the transfer length phenomenon, which was founded on linear interference fit assumptions. The results between the physical tests and theoretical model demonstrated feasibility in the approach and assumptions.
