description abstractBearing life analysis for the rolling element bearings in refrigeration compressors requires an accurate estimate of the film thickness. An alternative is offered here to the experimentally challenging pressure–viscosity measurements of oils diluted by refrigerants or the film thickness measurements of the same in an optical rig.
