description abstractThe second half of 2019 was not good for manufacturing. Demand dropped, hiring sputtered, and tariffs forced producers to reconfigure supply chains on the fly. Going into 2020, the picture suddenly brightened. Demand, orders, and hiring rose. Then the coronavirus pandemic hit. This article looks at some of the implications of the pandemic on the economy and how it might affect manufacturing.
