Abstract: Advancements in the field of telematics have empowered the development of connected vehicle (CV) applications, which optimize the energy and traffic efficiency of vehicular traffic. Over the past decade, various research groups have proposed different methodologies for the implementation of dynamic eco-driving near signalized intersections. This paper reviews the proposed methodologies laying emphasis on the control logic, optimization objectives, assumptions, and constraints of these models. The strengths and limitations of existing dynamic eco-driving models are discussed, and future research directions are proposed in relation to the opportunities emerging in the field of transportation and the technological barriers that may exist. Further, the methodologies implemented for the assessment of the impacts of dynamic eco-driving are critically reviewed.
