description abstract | One of the most important functions of planning is to offset uncertainty and change. However, projects are often affected by external factors or constraints that can either facilitate progress or create delays in the project. Sometimes, logic changes can be inevitable. Therefore, special techniques are needed to provide a simple way of network updating in order to reflect the impact of logic change on project completion date and on the critical path. This paper addresses the problem of soft logic and discusses logic changes during the course of the work. An algorithmic procedure has been developed to handle the soft logic in network analysis. SOFTCPM is a microcomputer program created by the writers that deals with the soft logic in CPM networks. It has the capability of updating the CPM network logic when any unexpected event occurs that prevents working according to the scheduled activity sequence. | |
