    Experimental Study on Axial Compressive Properties of Rubber Concrete at Low Temperature

    Abstract: In this paper, waste-tire crumb rubber with a size of 2–4 mm was used to prepare rubber concrete, and the axial compressive properties were tested at temperatures of −3 and 2°C. According to the feature points in the prepeak stress-strain curves, the strength, peak strain, deformability, and elastic modulus of rubber concrete at −3°C are compared with those at 2°C. The influence of different water/binder ratios and rubber contents on the relative axial compressive strength and relative elastic modulus of rubber concrete are also discussed. The results show that the ascending branches of axial compressive stress-strain curves of rubber concrete have a little difference with those of ordinary concrete. At −3°C, the stress and strain of rubber concrete are much larger and the responding deformation ability is obviously better than that of ordinary concrete as the rubber content increases.
