description abstract | This study proposes a quantitative measurement method for the value of building information modeling (BIM) implementation during the construction phase of a large-scale building project. From the case project, 472 value-assignable BIM issues were derived, and they were quantified regarding various aspects, such as the BIM utilization value and BIM contribution value, using a contract budget (CB). It was found that BIM has contributed to identifying and/or resolving issues whose contractual values are as much as 15.92% of the total direct cost of the project. In addition, a survey of trade contractors was conducted to determine how much they think BIM has contributed to their works, which is defined as the BIM sensible value. It was also shown that the higher utilization and contribution of BIM were accompanied by a higher sensible value, which trade contractors experienced regarding the cost reduction and construction period acceleration. | |
