Abstract: What does it take to make an acquisition successful for both companies? A number of large and small firms have made acquisitions or been acquired. Along with most other businesses, they have experienced a high level of dissatisfaction or regret with 50 percent or more of their acquisition activity. Even so, many firms plan to include acquisitions in their portfolios of growth strategies. Also, size has little to do with success. This article shares findings and tips about acquisitions that can make the transition of merging smoother for firms that do the acquiring and those that are acquired.
