Abstract: This article presents the results of an experimental investigation into the relationship between visual range and the size distribution of ice fog particles at Fairbanks, Alaska. An empirical function is developed for the constant appearing in the Trabert formula. Use of this function gives visual ranges that agree with measured values for size distributions of different width.
