Abstract: A computer can be used to calculate look angles for automatic picture transmission (APT) receiving stations. This method eliminates the laborious use of the plotting board and overlays, and enables the APT operator to have all possible orbit types preprogrammed and available a very short time after a new APT satellite is placed in orbit. The necessary coordinate transformations are presented in a form that makes them adaptable for use with very small computers.
