Abstract: Based on the tropical cyclone data over many years, relationships between cyclone motion and intensity or intensity change have been examined in the North Atlantic and western North Pacific. Very similar relationships appear in both basins. It is found that the motion differences between storms of separate intensity or intensity change are larger for those moving eastward than for those moving westward. These results supplement previous studies, and do not contradict recent theoretical ones.
