| description abstract | In a three-dimensional numerical model of a tropical disturbance, a spectrum of development stages, from a weakening wave to a mature tropical storm, was obtained with a 5 K range (298 to 303 K) sea surface temperature (SST). However, the apparently large SST sensitivity of the model was found to be modulated by other factors including the large-scale environmental temperature and humidity. Through the use of this model, problems concerning a critical value of SST necessary for storm development were discussed. | |
