Abstract: Two direct observations of wave motion associated with fronts by well instrumented meteorological research aircraft are presented. Wave cloud photographs corroborate the analysis of the temperature and three-dimensional air motion. Phase relationships among temperature and velocity components and a calculation of the momentum flux show, in one case, some evidence of trapped horizontally propagating waves.
