Abstract: We describe a 10?12-year oscillation (abbreviated to TTO in the following) in the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere of the Northern Hemisphere in summer. The TTO has been presented since the time series began in 1951, and it has been in phase with the 11-year solar cycle during that time. The analyses show that the large amplitude of the TTO in the geopotential heights of the lower stratosphere is associated with temperature variations on the same time scale in the upper troposphere.
