Abstract: A linear, single-layer model is used to describe the complex system of recirculations that may be expected when a long ridge system is pierced by several gaps. The recirculations are fed by jets issuing from the western basin. These jets may be intensely recirculating themselves as dipolar, two-way jets or may be simple, single-direction flows through the ridge gaps.
