Abstract: A continuously stratified inertial boundary current in a ?-plane possesses a similarity solution for the pressure of the formwhere A0(y), k0(y), z0(y) are arbitrary functions, n is an arbitrary constant. It can satisfy the condition u = 0 at x = 0, and be matched to a known interior solution (the thermocline solution of the power law type) but does not generally satisfy the condition w = 0 at z = 0.
