Abstract: Spectral analyses of three long-term (8 months), deep (?5 km), current-meter records located on the Scotian Rise (?40°N, 62°W) and a time series of the average northerly position of the surface Gulf Stream System obtained from analyses of satellite data give evidence, at a period of about 2 weeks, that the Gulf Stream System is influencing the ocean in this region from the surface to the bottom.
