Kinematic Vertical Motion and Relative Vorticity Profiles in a Long-Lived Midlatitude Convective System

Source: Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences:;1986:;Volume( 043 ):;issue: 012::page 1297
    Author:
    Bosart, Lance F.
    DOI: 10.1175/1520-0469(1986)043<1297:KVMARV>2.0.CO;2
    Publisher: American Meteorological Society
Abstract: Average kinematic vertical motion and relative vorticity profiles are presented for a long-lived midlatitude convective complex. A breakdown into active convective and stratiform precipitation regions shows very good agreement in the vertical motion profiles with published results for tropical convective systems.
