Abstract: An empirical-analytical semi-molecular theory of nucleation of water on ions is developed. The model has the advantage that it can be applied to both small and large ion clusters. It also predicts saturation ratios for condensation on ions close to values from cloud chamber experiments. We also include a sufficient part of the molecular approach, so that the model makes a distinction between positive and negative ions.
