description abstract | A non-entraining, axially symmetric, steady-state sloping model of a severe storm is developed. This model allows the systematic variation of input parameters for evaluating the relative sensitivity of the various physical terms considered to changes in each other. Evidence is presented to illustrate the inter-dependence between the maximum vertical velocity and storm slope, radius and shape of the vertical velocity profile. The validity and limitations of the model are discussed. Plans to generalize the model for future research are briefly indicated. | |
