Abstract: The statistical distribution of c axis orientations has been analysed in a natural hailstone showing typical features of wet growth. A marked maximum has been observed at an angle between 80° and 90° from the radial direction. It is the first time that this kind of orientation, typical of wet growth in wind tunnel experiments, has been observed in natural hailstones.
