Abstract: A preliminary analysis of high resolution image tube spectra of Jupiter in the region of the R branch of the 3?3 band of methane is reported. The results indicate, for a simple reflecting layer model, that the effective pressure for the formation of lines in this band is 2.3±0.5 atm.
