Abstract: This paper presents a method to derive radiation budget parameters (albedo and emitted longwave flux) at the top of the atmosphere from the three-band METEOSAT images. Model calculations are used to correct for the anisotropic radiance distribution and for spectral integration. Some results are presented to quality-check the employed model assumptions and to show examples of diurnal changes in the radiation fluxes over various regions.
