    Abstract: This note addresses several issues raised in a 1994 paper by Ramu and Kennedy. Solid-waste–disposal siting is a complex process that must take into consideration a varying range of social, political, and environmental concerns. This note addresses a basic assumption made by Ramu and Kennedy in siting a waste-disposal facility, which suggests that such a facility can be located along any road linkage of a transportation network. The other major issue addressed in this paper is the waste-site–selection heuristic suggested by Ramu and Kennedy. An alternative solution approach to their heuristic is presented that identifies a guaranteed optimal solution.
