description abstract | A simple and efficient method is presented in this paper to evaluate the interaction exponent for biaxial bending of reinforced concrete (RC) columns. This method avoids the use of tedious methods such as the use of design charts and tables. Results obtained with the proposed method have been compared with various methods utilised in practice. A method is also suggested to calculate the critical values of interaction exponent at a particular design load and an angle of eccentricity at which the adequacy of the section can be checked for design purposes. The method has been validated experimentally. | |
