    Abstract: The effects of cross‐wind shear on horizontal dispersion are studied using a numerical solution of a steady state diffusion equation and boundary layer equations. The results are presented for a set of input parameters and eddy diffusivity profiles. The study indicates that cross‐wind shear effects cannot be ignored during dispersion calculations and depend on release height and atmospheric stability.
