Abstract: A computer program has been produced to study numerically the instability of normaland high-strength reinforced concrete walls. This method of analysis requires the calculation of moment-curvature values, which are then used to accurately predict the maximum axial load a wall section can carry before failure occurs. The computer program is used to analyze a standard 150 mm-thick wall section to illustrate its advantages over simplified code methods. In particular, the computer program is used to investigate the effect of high-strength concrete on the load capacity of a wall section.
