Abstract: The series‐event kinetic model is applied for the analysis of chemical disinfection data sets exhibiting initial resistance characteristics. Use of the mathematical model permits a generalized approach for data reduction expressed in terms of an apparent kinetic constant and an integer threshold exposure. The apparent kinetic constant exhibited a linear dependence on the concentration of disinfectant, thus giving credence to the first‐order dependency to that concentration assumed in the reaction rate expression. It is proposed that batch disinfection data be expressed in terms of this two‐parameter model rather than the traditional concentration‐time product.
