description abstract | A finite element model is used to study the behavior of a glued, laminated, longitudinal‐deck highway bridge. The bridge, which was developed for short to medium spans, offers a competitive alternative to steel and reinforced concrete in this span range. Experimental tests of a full‐scale laboratory test bridge are performed to validate the analytical model, which had been used in the development of design criteria for the longitudinal deck bridge. Comparison of experimental and analytical results shows the validity of the analytical model and supports the conservation of the design criteria. | |
