description abstractThis paper deals with simple frames having latticed members of varying moments of inertia. Critical loads are established in a closed form by means of a bifurcational analysis. The individual and coupling effects of various parameters upon the load‐carrying capacity of such frames are fully assessed. The stresses in the chords and lacing bars of the members are also established with satisfactory accuracy. The analysis presented herein is illustrated through a numerical example.
