Abstract: The wind load provisions of ANSI A58.1, published in 1982, contain the latest available pertinent data and technical knowledge. Summary of changes from the previous standard and background material for wind speed map, format of the standard, importance coefficient, pressure coefficients, and wind tunnel procedure are presented. The balloting and public review process has resulted in a consensus standard.
