Abstract: This analysis of turbulent shear stress in steady-uniform sediment-laden flows with heterogeneous sediment size distributions is applicable when yield, viscous, and dispersive shear stresses are negligible compared to turbulent shear stress. The Reynolds averaging method is applied to a graded mixture of sediments in suspension assuming that the velocity fluctuations of sediment particles are identical to the fluid velocity fluctuations. The resulting relationship τ = -ρ
