| description abstract | A series of experimental tests are carried out to aid in the optimal design of a jet‐mixer for a shallow circular basin. Mixing times for single and double jets with various orientations are investigated to determine the best arrangement. The best single jet is one directed along the diameter of the basin. A tangential jet near the basin perimeter has the longest mixing time. The best overall arrangement consists of tangential jet and 45° jet at a radius of 0.4 of the basin radius. An optimal design procedure is suggested. | |
