Abstract: The pressure distribution around a stationary cylindrical capsule in a pipe due to water passing over the capsule was measured. The result was used to determine the lift and drag on the capsule. It was found that an uplift is concentrated near the capsule tail. For a diameter ratio of 0.86, the lift and drag coefficients are respectively 1 and 34.
