ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

The Control of Frame Vibration by Friction Damping in Joints
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Some effects of friction damping occurring in joints on the frequency response of a portal frame are presented and discussed. The frame was designed so that the joint clamping forces could ...
The Damping of Structural Vibration by Controlled Interfacial Slip in Joints
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The most significant source of damping inherent in a structure is that damping which occurs in the structural joints due to interfacial slip. Thus, particular emphasis should be put on controlling ...
Identification of ’Effective’ Linear Joints Using Coupling and Joint Identification Techniques
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Almost all real-life structures are assembled from components connected by various types of joints. Unlike many other parts, the dynamic properties of a joint are difficult to model analytically. ...
