ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Equivalent Source Method-Based Nearfield Acoustic Holography in a Moving Medium
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: To identify sound sources situated in a fluid flow, an equivalent source method (ESM)-based nearfield acoustic holography (NAH) in a moving medium is proposed, and two types of acoustic inputs, pressure and particle velocity, ...
An Inverse Direct Time Domain Boundary Element Method for the Reconstruction of Transient Acoustic Field
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An inverse direct time domain boundary element method (IDTBEM) is proposed for the reconstruction of transient acoustic field radiated by arbitrarily shaped sources. The method is based on the theory of direct time domain ...
Experimental Study on Analytical Models for Predicting the Horn Effect of a Tire/Road Interface
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The phenomenon that the tire/road noise is amplified when propagating outward from the hornlike geometry enveloped by the tire belt and the ground surface is referred to as the horn effect. In the present paper, three ...
A Comparison of Equivalent Source Method and Monopole Time Reversal Method for Noise Source Localization
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The equivalent source method (ESM) and monopole time reversal method (MTRM) are two popular techniques for noise source localization. These two methods have some similar characteristics, such as using the pressure field ...
Analytical Passive Time Reversal Method Combined With Equivalent Source Method for Sound Source Localization in an Enclosure
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The analytical passive time reversal method (APTRM) is a powerful technique for sound source localization. In that technique, it generally requires that the frequency response function relating the measurement point to the ...
Reconstruction of the Force Applied to a Plate in the Time Domain From Sound Pressure Measurements
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper provides a non-contact approach to reconstruct the distributed or concentrated force applied to a plate in the time domain. This approach is based on sound pressure measurements and is realized by coupling the ...
