ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Active Acoustic Metamaterial With Simultaneously Programmable Density and Bulk Modulus
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Acoustic metamaterials are those structurally engineered materials that are composed of periodic cells designed in such a fashion to yield specific material properties (density and bulk modulus) that would affect the wave ...
Vibration Characteristics of Metamaterial Beams With Periodic Local Resonances
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Vibration characteristics of metamaterial beams manufactured of assemblies of periodic cells with builtin local resonances are presented. Each cell consists of a base structure provided with cavities filled by a viscoelastic ...
Piezoelectric Vibration Energy Harvesting From a Two Dimensional Coupled Acoustic Structure System With a Dynamic Magnifier
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A class of piezoelectric energy harvester is presented to harness the vibration energy from coupled acousticstructure systems such as those existing, for example, in aircraft acoustic cabin/flexible fuselage systems. Generic ...
A Simple Configuration of an Actively Synthesized Gyroscopic-Nonreciprocal Acoustic Metamaterial
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A simple configuration of an active nonreciprocal gyroscopic metamaterial (NGMM) is presented. In the proposed NGMM system, a one-dimensional acoustic cavity is provided with piezoelectric boundaries acting as a collocated ...
Breaking the Reciprocity in Acoustic Metamaterials by Active Eigen-Structure Control Strategy
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The theory governing breaking the reciprocity in acoustic metamaterials by using active eigen-structure control strategy is presented. Such theoretical foundation aims at demonstrating the ability of introducing controlled ...
Impact and Bandgap Characteristics of Periodic Rods With Viscoelastic Inserts and Local Resonators
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A comprehensive theoretical and experimental study is presented of the bandgap behavior of periodic viscoelastic material (VEM) composites subjected to impact loading. The composites under consideration consist of an ...
