ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Boundary Control of Beams Using Active Constrained Layer Damping
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A variational mathematical model is developed using Hamilton’s principle to describe the dynamics of beams fully-treated with Active Constrained Layer Damping (ACLD) treatments. The resulting ...
A New Class of Distributed Sensors
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A new class of distributed sensors is presented which can measure both the linear and angular deflections of composite beams. The sensor relies in its operation on a set of wires which are ...
Optimum Design and Control of Active Constrained Layer Damping
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Conventional Passive Constrained Layer Damping (PCLD) treatments with viscoelastic cores are provided with built-in sensing and actuation capabilities to actively control and enhance their vibration ...
Energy Harvesting of Thermoacoustic-Piezo Systems With a Dynamic Magnifier
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This study presents a novel approach for enhancing the performance of one of the promising systems in the field of energy harvesting, namely the standing wave thermoacoustic engine. Currently, ...
Onset of Self-Excited Oscillations of Traveling Wave Thermo-Acoustic-Piezoelectric Energy Harvester Using Root-Locus Analysis
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The onset of self-excited oscillations is developed theoretically for a traveling wave thermo-acoustic-piezoelectric (TAP) energy harvester. The harvester is intended for converting thermal energy, ...
Cantilevered Piezoelectric Energy Harvester With a Dynamic Magnifier
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Conventional energy harvester typically consists of a cantilevered composite piezoelectric beam which has a proof mass at its free end while its fixed end is mounted on a vibrating base ...
