ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Reciprocating Compressor Frame Distortion During a Cold Start
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents measurements of vertical and horizontal distortions of a compressor frame during the days following a cold start. The distortions are measured using a laser beam directed ...
Lateral Gear Shaft Dynamics Control Torsional Stresses in Turbine-Driven Compressor Train
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An experimental evaluation of a gas turbine/compressor train yielded excellent correlation between measured and predicted torsional critical speeds. Torsional strain signals acquired at a coupling ...
More Comprehensive Vibration Limits for Rotating Machinery
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Vibrations are often found to be the cause of rotating machinery failures. To minimize these outages a large number of vibration criteria have been introduced by technical societies, equipment ...
Assessment of Gas Turbine Vibration Monitoring
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents a basis for selecting and justifying vibration monitoring equipment for power-generating gas turbines. Users of industrial gas turbines from utility and petrochemical companies ...
Spray Automated Balancing of Rotors: Concept and Initial Feasibility Study
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper describes a new balancing concept: Spray Automated Balancing Of Rotors (SABOR). The Fuel Air Repetitive Explosion (FARE) process of metal film deposition is used to apply discrete ...
Internal Dynamic Force Analysis for V-Type Engine/Compressor With Articulated Power Cylinder Connecting Rod Mechanism
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents a systematic analysis of the internal dynamic forces within a V -engine/compressor with articulated power cylinders. All inertial terms are included in the formulation, which ...
Demonstration of a Unified Approach to the Balancing of Flexible Rotors
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A flexible rotor balancing procedure, which incorporates the advantages and eliminates the disadvantages of the modal and influence coefficient procedures, has been developed and implemented. This ...
Tools for Diagnosing Case Deflections and Alignment on a Power Utility Combustion Turbine
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper discusses development, installation, and analysis of instrumentation systems for reliably measuring casing, thermal distortion, and alignment deviation on a large combustion turbine in ...
Effective Tools for Diagnosing Elusive Turbomachinery Dynamics Problems in the Field
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper describes and discusses techniques that can effectively diagnose dynamics problems in turbomachinery. A variety of elusive dynamics problems are identified that require definition, ...
