ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Convective Heat Losses From Flat-Plate Solar Collectors in Turbulent Winds
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents results for convective heat transfer coefficients on the surface of flat-plate solar collectors mounted on a single-family residential building and exposed to the wind. The ...
Wind-Induced Heat Losses From Solar Collector Arrays on Flat-Roofed Buildings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents data for convective heat transfer coefficients on the front surface of a free-standing array of solar collectors mounted on the flat roof of a low warehouse-type building ...
Measurements and Prediction of the Effects of Surface Roughness on Profile Losses and Deviation in a Turbine Cascade
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Measurements of pressure distributions, profile losses, and flow deviation were carried out on a planar turbine cascade in incompressible flow to assess the effects of partial roughness coverage ...
Effects of Simulated Rotation on Tip Leakage in a Planar Cascade of Turbine Blades: Part II—Downstream Flow Field and Blade Loading
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper and its companion paper present experimental results on the effects of simulated rotation on the tip leakage in a linear turbine cascade test. Part II examines the downstream flow ...
Flow in a Centrifugal Fan of the Squirrel-Cage Type
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents the results of performance measurements and detailed measurements of the mean flow field at rotor inlet and rotor exit in three squirrel-cage fan configurations. The flow-field ...
Retained Lift: Theoretical Difficulties With the Concept and an Alternative Explanation of Observations
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Mean Flow and Turbulence Measurements of Annular Swirling Flows
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper presents the results of a detailed experimental investigation of swirling flows in a cylindrical annulus. Flows having nominal swirl angles of 0, 15, 30, and 45 degrees were measured. ...
The Law of the Wall for Swirling Flow in Annular Ducts
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Expressions for the logarithmic portion of the law of the wall are derived for the axial and tangential velocity components of swirling flow in annular ducts. These expressions involve new ...
Prediction of Flow Behavior and Performance of Squirrel-Cage Centrifugal Fans Operating at Medium and High Flow Rates
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper describes a method for predicting flow behavior and performance for centrifugal fans of the squirrel-cage type. The work is directed at improving under standing of the factors affecting ...
