ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Flow Visualization in a Linear Turbine Cascade of High Performance Turbine Blades
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Multiple smoke wires are used to investigate the secondary flow near the endwall of a plane cascade with blade shapes used in high-performance turbine stages. The wires are positioned parallel ...
Effect of Plenum Crossflow on Heat (Mass) Transfer Near and Within the Entrance of Film Cooling Holes
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Convective heat/mass transfer near and within the entrance region of film cooling holes supplied with air from an internal duct (plenum) behind the cooling holes has been measured using a ...
Effect of Inlet Skew on Heat/Mass Transfer From a Simulated Turbine Blade
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Heat (mass) transfer experiments are conducted to study the effect of an inlet skew on a simulated gas-turbine blade placed in a linear cascade. The inlet skew simulates the relative motion ...
Film Cooling Effect of Rotor-Stator Purge Flow on Endwall Heat/Mass Transfer
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Mass transfer measurements on the endwall and blade suction surfaces are performed in a five-blade linear cascade with a high-performance rotor blade profile. The effects of purge flow from the ...
Laminar Separation, Reattachment, and Transition of the Flow Over a Downstream-Facing Step
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Results of an experimental investigation of the laminar flow of air over a downstream-facing step are presented. The experiments include visual observations of smoke filaments (in the viscous ...
Effect of Wake-Disturbed Flow on Heat (Mass) Transfer to a Turbine Blade
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This study investigates the effect of wakes in the presence of varying levels of background freestream turbulence on the heat (mass) transfer from gas turbine blades. Measurements using the ...
Film Cooling of a Gas Turbine Blade
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The local film-cooling produced by a row of jets on a gas turbine blade is measured by a mass transfer technique. The density of the secondary fluid is from 0.75 to two times that of the ...
Adiabatic Wall Temperature and Heat Transfer Downstream of Injection Through Two Rows of Holes
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Results of an experimental investigation of film cooling and heat transfer following injection through two staggered rows of holes are reported. The two staggered rows are considerably more ...
Film Cooling With Normal Injection Into a Supersonic Flow
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An experimental study of film cooling with subsonic gas injection into a mainstream with a Mach number of 2.90 is reported. Air, used as both the mainstream and secondary fluids, is injected ...
Pressure Die Casting: A Model of Vacuum Pumping
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Multifunctional characteristics of die casting parts are significantly compromised by the presence of voids, which can result in a substantial decrease in the elastic moduli and thermal conductivity. ...
