ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Transient Performance of Evacuated Tubular Solar Collectors
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A computer program using a finite difference technique is developed to study the steady-state and transient performance of an evacuated solar collector suitable for applications in the 120–250°C ...
Study of Anisothermal Short Journal Bearings With non-Newtonian Lubricants
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The equations describing the flow of simple non-Newtonian oils in short journal bearings are solved approximately for low eccentricity ratios and small viscosity variations with temperature. An ...
Response of Viscoelastic Fluids in Dynamically Loaded Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The dynamic response of polymer fluids to small sinusoidal shearing motions may be characterized by their relaxation spectra. Recent experiments show that great changes can be induced in the ...
Gas Lubricated Bearings
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
A Burgers-Type Model of Turbulent Decay in a Non-Newtonian Fluid
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: To study the effects of the high elongational viscosity on the free (“grid-generated”) turbulence of polymer solutions, a Burgers-type model equation is proposed and formed by replacing the ...
Effects of Combined Shearing and Stretching in Viscoelastic Lubrication
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: It is argued theoretically that in normal bearing and squeeze film geometries, when using a nonlinear Maxwell constitutive relation, that elongation and normal stress effects are of minor importance.
The Flow of High Polymers

Increase of Bearing Loads Due to Large Normal Stress Differences in Viscoelastic Lubricants
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The calculation of increased bearing capacity due to large viscoelastic or normal stress effects is carried out exactly for plane slider bearings with a second-order fluid lubricant.
