ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

The Transient, Steady-State, and Stability Behavior of a Toroidal Thermosyphon With a Parallel-Flow Heat Exchanger
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The transient and steady-state heat transfer, fluid flow, and stability of a toroidal thermosyphon have been studied theoretically. The thermosyphon is heated over the lower half and cooled over ...
Gas-Particle Flow Within a High Temperature Solar Cavity Receiver Including Radiation Heat Transfer
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A study has been made of the flow of air and particles and the heat transfer inside a solar heated, open cavity containing a falling cloud of 100-1000 micron solid particles. Two-way momentum ...
Ventilated Flow Between Corotating Disks With Large Obstructions in a Fixed Cylindrical Enclosure (Data Bank Contribution)
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Time-resolved laser-Doppler velocimeter measurements of the circumferential velocity component were obtained for the flow between the center pair of four disks of common radius R2 corotating at ...
A Combined Theoretical/Experimental Approach to the Dynamic Characterization of Viscoelastic Materials
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This research combines theoretical and experimental approaches to the dynamic mechanical characterization of viscoelastic materials. A detailed derivation is presented for the dynamic response of ...
Resonant Response of a System With Coulomb Friction
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Force Generation From Orthodontic Appliances
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The design of orthodontic archwires often incorporates complex bends, loops and twists to generate force fields. The determination of the magnitude and direction of these forces requires the ...
Unsteady Flow in the Obstructed Space Between Disks Corotating in a Cylindrical Enclosure
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Time-resolved measurements of the circumferential velocity component were obtained with a laser-Doppler velocimeter in the space between the center pair of four disks corotating in air in an ...
Questions in Fluid Mechanics: Flow Near Thermodynamic Critical Points
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Ventilated Flow in the Unobstructed Space Between Corotating Disks in a Cylindrical Enclosure
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: An experimental investigation has been performed for the ventilated flow of air in the unobstructed space between the center pair of four disks corotating in a fixed cylindrical enclosure. This ...
The Propagation of Radially Symmetric Stress Waves in Anisotropic Nonhomogeneous Elastic Media
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A study is made of the transient response of a thick-walled cylinder (plane-strain) or plate (plane-stress) subjected to an axially symmetric time-dependent pressure (or velocity) at an internal ...
