ASME ( American Society of Mechanical Engineers )
Description: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a professional association that, in its own words, "promotes the art, science, and practice of multidisciplinary engineering and allied sciences around the globe" via "continuing education, training and professional development, codes and standards, research, conferences and publications, government relations, and other forms of outreach." ASME is thus an engineering society, a standards organization, a research and development organization, a lobbying organization, a provider of training and education, and a nonprofit organization. Founded as an engineering society focused on mechanical engineering in North America, ASME is today multidisciplinary and global.

Vibration and Coupling Phenomena in Asymmetric Disk-Spindle Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This paper analytically treats the free vibration of coupled, asymmetric disk-spindle systems in which both the disk and spindle are continuous and flexible. The disk and spindle are coupled ...
Exact Boundary Condition Perturbation Solutions in Eigenvalue Problems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A perturbation method is developed for linear, self-adjoint eigenvalue problems with perturbation operators confined to the boundary conditions. Results are derived through third order perturbation ...
Analytical Vibration of Spinning, Elastic Disk-Spindle Systems
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This work develops the dynamic equations of motion for a spinning disk-spindle system and casts them in a structured formulation that reveals the classical gyroscopic nature of the system. The ...
Analytical Characterization of the Unique Properties of Planetary Gear Free Vibration
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This work develops an analytical model of planetary gears and uses it to investigate their natural frequencies and vibration modes. The model admits three planar degrees of freedom for each ...
Exact Perturbation for the Vibration of Almost Annular or Circular Plates
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: A perturbation solution is presented to analytically determine the eigensolutions for self-adjoint plate vibration problems on nearly annular or circular domains. The irregular domain eigensolutions ...
Free Vibration and Stability of a Spinning Disk-Spindle System
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: This work examines the free vibration and stability of a spinning, elastic disk-spindle system. The extended operator formulation is exploited to discretize the system using Galerkin’s method ...
On the Eigenvalues and Critical Speed Stability of Gyroscopic Continua
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: In order to provide analytical eigenvalue estimates for general continuous gyroscopic systems, this paper presents a perturbation analysis to determine approximate eigenvalue loci and stability ...
